Promoting tomato science in Greece
On November 18, 2017, a group of students from the School of Agricultural and Food Technology in Crete, Greece visited the greenhouse of TRADITOM partner AKTYMPAKI. Eleni Goumenaki, professor in Vegetable Science at Technological Educational Institute of Crete, and her students have been introduced to the project goals and objectives and got a first-hand introduction in “tomato science” by Konstantinos Nikoloudis who showed them around the facilities. The group of young scientists was introduced to different tomato varieties and their phenotypical differences. TRADITOM continues its outreach to early stage researchers and the interested public in order to foster the conservation of traditional tomato varieties and to spark interest in this fascinating research topic.
