TRADITOM joins forces between scientists and farmers

The project builds on the scientific expertise of outstanding research groups covering complementary aspects in genetics, genomics, and metabolism as well as agronomic, sensory and socio-economic evaluation of tomatoes, with a long track record of successful collaborations. This is complemented by the agronomic and traditional knowledge provided by farmer associations located in the different participating countries.

The consortium was put together in order to tackle the challenge of making traditional tomatoes in the EU competitive and allow them to coexist with high productivity tomatoes. TRADITOM will help to provide EU consumers with one of the most important sources of nutrients and tasty food as well as support a sustainable economy in rural areas.
