The Universitat Politècnica de Valencia (UPV) is a public University with more than 36,000 students and 2.800 members of teaching and research staff. UPV has 40 research centres and institutes and has an intense research and innovation activity. The research activity of this project will be carried out at the Instituto Universitario de Conservación y Mejora de la Agrodiversidad Valenciana (COMAV) of the UPV. COMAV has a long tradition in conservation, enhancement and breeding of vegetable crops, with many contributions in this subject. COMAV also holds the UPV germplasm bank and has an important interaction with farmers associations and with local breeding companies.

Prof. Jaime Prohens is Director of COMAV and will lead the UPV scientific team. He is full professor and has an important research activity in the field of vegetable crops genetics and breeding, with more than 80 papers in peer-reviewed international scientific journals. He has coordinated or partnered several national and international research projects.

Within TRADITOM, the research and innovation work performed at COMAV includes the collection, conservation, multiplication, documentation, breeding and distribution of genetic resources and breeding material.
